How to Support the 2nd Amendment
Now more than ever it is important to fully support the 2nd Amendment whether you own a firearm for recreational purposes or for personal protection, are a gun-rights advocate or all three! We've outlined a few ways of doing so and hope that this will inspire you to get out and vote, purchase firearms, get educated and take action from there. Remember, our rights shall not be infringed!

1. Show your Support with Gear
Sporting Second Amendment gear is a good way to show off what you believe in to the public and to those around you. Luckily for us gun advocates there is a vast array of gun-related t-shirts, flags, posters, hats and other gear available online and in your local gun stores. Some of our favorites usually include the Second Amendment quote - “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” However, your gear does not have to be this detailed, just simply the statement “I support the 2d Amendment” or “Shall not be infringed” is good enough to get the message across. Many of the Founding Fathers of the US were firearm advocates so quotes from them are also a great option for expressing your support. We highly suggest you check out Amazon.com or a local gun store for some gear to show your support!
2. Familiarize Yourself with the Constitution
The Constitution clearly states the vision for firearms in this country: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It's important to go ahead and educate yourself on the Second Amendment and the Constitution so you can stand ground when talking to family or friends who might not agree with your viewpoints. It’s very common, especially in present times, to have these debates and we don’t expect it to get any better come 2020. So education is key to stand your ground and educate yourself, friends and family. We advise you to become familiar with the entire Constitution, not just the 2nd Amendment, to truly become educated. You can find an electronic copy of the Constitution here.
3. Pick up a Gun-Related Hobby
Picking up a gun-related hobby such as visiting a local shooting range or even taking up hunting as a sport is a great way to not only support your local gun stores but also a good way to support the 2nd Amendment. Just by picking up these hobbies you are supporting guns as a sport and recreational activity. Remember, there are all different types of firearms out there and we need to make sure those rights are not infringed upon no matter the type or purpose.
4. Become Educated on National and Local Laws
Becoming educated on national and local gun laws are a must for anyone who supports the Second Amendment. It is key to know your rights when you are at the range, carrying your concealed carry weapon, purchasing a firearm or just in conversation alone. There is nothing worse than someone debating a topic and not having evidence or facts to back up what their reasonings are. This is absolutely no different for those who support the 2nd Amendment and basic gun rights. Be sure to become educated on national and local gun laws so you can stand your ground. For more information check out the NRA-ILA website here.
5. Vote in All Elections & Contact Your Local Representatives
Be sure to vote in all of your local and national elections and vote for politicians and policies that support basic gun rights and the Second Amendment. For a full list check out NRA’s website https://www.nrapvf.org/ which allows you to filter politicians by election, states, and dates. If you aren’t sure where to start, begin doing your research before you go to the polls so you can make educated choices based on your beliefs and the candidates who align best with those. Also, be sure to encourage other friends and family members to vote — strength in numbers is important when casting a vote.
Along with voting in all elections, be sure to contact your local representatives to let them know how you feel about certain laws and restrictions BEFORE they go into effect. Don’t forget to attend a protest or two as well if there is one going on in your area regarding gun laws. Strength in numbers is also key when making your voice heard!
6. Get your Concealed Carry Permit or License
Obtaining your concealed carry license is an important and crucial step in supporting the 2nd Amendment and becoming a basic gun-rights advocate. By getting your permit you can carry your weapon with you in many public places to ensure the safety of yourself, your friends and your family members. If you have questions on how to do this USACarry.com has a great resource on their website on how to find the information you will need to have for obtaining a license based on which state you live in.
7. Take a Firearms & Training course
Be sure before obtaining your CCW that you consider taking a basic firearms and training course so you know how to shoot and how to be safe when dealing with firearms. Not only will you become well-versed in handling firearms in general but you will also be supporting your local gun range by taking a course. Encourage friends and family members to join you when you go to make it more fun and a group activity for visiting the range in the future.
8. Join Pro-Second Amendment Organizations & Special Interest Groups
There are many pro-2nd Amendment organizations out there but the main one would have to be the National Rifle Association, better known as the NRA. When joining an organization like this you will be supporting the Second Amendment both financially and politically as these types of organizations are constantly lobbying for basic gun rights. Besides the NRA there are many other specialty organizations like: USCAA, GOA, Sisters of the Second Amendment and the SAF. Do your research and find which one aligns best with your values and what you are looking for when joining an organization. Don’t forget to also consider supporting or joining your local groups as well which will fight for local laws and can also be a way to make new like-minded friends in your area.
9. Buy New Guns and Gun parts
This one may seem obvious but we need to include it in our list — purchasing new guns and gun parts periodically is a way to support the 2nd Amendment, firearm companies and the economy in general. Be sure to look into local stores but larger department stores work too and always make sure the firearms and parts are American made. Here at 80P Builder, our guns and gun parts are 100% American made.
Do you have any other tips or ways you support the 2nd Amendment? Let us know so we can add them to the list! Our rights shall not be infringed upon!
