What to Consider When Purchasing a Holster Online

If you have your concealed carry permit or are interested in obtaining one, you'll need to look for a good quality holster to carry your weapon in when out in public. With all of the options out there these days, it's easy to get overwhelmed with what kind to get. We'd like to provide you with some insight on what to consider when shopping for the perfect holster for your weapon and what to avoid when shopping online.

Consider the Material of the Holster

The material of your holster can dictate how long it will uphold in the future and how it will perform in situations. The most common materials that holsters come in are nylon, leather, and plastic. There are perks and drawbacks to each one of these materials that could impact the choice you make on which one to purchase. In general, genuine leather will always uphold the longest in the end but may not be budget-friendly if things are tighter for you financially at the time of purchase. Plastic holsters usually won't uphold as long as genuine leather and are generally known for being noisier when you need to get out our weapon so this could be a major drawback depending on the situation you are in. If you are needing something fast and don't have the budget to spare, nylon is most definitely the cheapest of all holster materials but do not expect it to last long. If you are looking into getting the best of both worlds, consider purchasing a synthetic leather holster which is more budget-friendly but will uphold longer than nylon or plastic.

Consider where on your body you plan to carry

You can find holsters now for any part of your body - seriously. If you are looking for a classic one for your hip and waistband, you'll have no trouble finding that but there are also other options out there now. Be sure to consider where you plan on hiding your CCW at to ensure you purchase a holster that meets your needs. If you are looking for one for your car those exist and for the ladies searching there are option now for bras, corsets, leggings and even running shorts. The options are really endless so do your research on which option best suits you depending on where you plan to carry your weapon at and how you plan to dress yourself that day.

Style of Holster

As noted above, there are many different types of holsters out there now depending on where you plan to carry at. It's also smart to consider what you want your holster to look like. If you are genuinely interested in finding a holster that fits a certain style, I highly recommend the brands Houston, Infused Kydex USA and UnderTech UnderCover. Do you know of any other good, stylish brands? Send them our way so we can add them to our list.

Website Credibility

When shopping for anything online through an eCommerce store, you must consider the overall credibility of the store itself. Some common things to look for are whether the store is Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https) secure or not. This is basically just a fancy way of ensuring that the website you are shopping on has top-notch security for communication. Why is this important? Well, it will be key for the utmost security of your passwords, credit card information and home address if you end up making a transaction through the website. A few other items to look for in website credibility are testimonials and reviews from clients, proper spelling, social media upkeep, blog or media center upkeep, and basic contact information. Last but not least, make sure the website you are considering purchasing from has a good return policy in case your product doesn't match the description or has any defects.

Consider Shopping at a Retail Store

If online shopping doesn't appeal to you then there are many benefits to shopping at a retail store for your holster. Being able to feel the material and test it on your body can go a long way instead of just looking at them online and purchasing from there. Whether you make the decision to purchase online or in a physical store, we recommend you do some research online before going into the store so you are not overwhelmed once there and have an idea of what you are looking for.
